 ‎THE AWO TIMES  Campus News | January 30, 2026 ‎ ‎FIRST LADY COMMISSIONS CNG BUSES TRICYCLES AND DREAM CENTER  AT OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY. ‎By Goodness Olope  Obafemi Awolowo University, on Thursday, 29 January, hosted Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, for the official commissioning of newly donated campus transport vehicles, fulfilling a promise she made during the university’s 48th convocation ceremony in December 2024. ‎Senator Oluremi Tinubu, an alumna of the university from the Faculty of Education, had pledged to support the institution with shuttle buses and tricycles to improve transportation within the campus. ‎ The donation comprises 50 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, 20 solar-powered tricycles, and 10 CNG-powered tricycles, all aimed at enhancing mobility, safety, and sustainability on campus. ‎ ‎The commissioning ceremony took place at the Main Bowl of the university’s Sports Complex.   Campus News | January 28, 2026 ‎ ‎OAU TO HOST FIRST LADY, SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU ON OFFICIAL VISIT ‎By Prosperity Olajire ‎ Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, has announced plans to host Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on an official visit to the university on Thursday, January 29, 2026. ‎ A notice issued by the Office of the Registrar and addressed to all staff stated that the visit will feature the official commissioning and handover of 50 buses and 10 tricycles donated by the First Lady to the institution. ‎ The programme will also include the commissioning and handover of the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Dream Centre, to be performed by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II). ‎ The university added that enhanced security arrangements and access control measures will be enforced across the campus for the duration of the visit. ‎ Staff and students were urged to cooperate with security personnel, comply with all official directives, and maintain ...

Batch A comprised students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Administration, Arts, and Law.   ‎THE AWO TIMES ‎Ca mpus News | January 13, 2026 OAU DECLARES LECTURE FREE DAYS FOR FRESH STUDENTS By Elizabeth Ogbodogbo Earlier today, Tuesday, 13 January 2026, the management of Obafemi Awolowo University held a meeting during which it declared a two-day lecture-free period for newly admitted students. ‎ The lecture-free period will take place on Wednesday, 14 January, and Thursday, 15 January 2026. ‎ According to the management, the decision is to enable all fresh students to complete their faculty and departmental registrations, as well as pay all compulsory fees, within their respective faculties. ‎ This, the university noted, is necessary to ensure their eligibility to participate in the matriculation ceremony scheduled for Thursday, 15 January 2026.

 THE AWO TIMES ‎Campus News | January 7, 2026 OAU MANDATES CBT FOR LARGE CLASSES ‎By Goodness Olope  ‎The Obafemi Awolowo University has mandated the use of Computer-Based Tests (CBT) for all courses with student enrolment exceeding 250, as part of measures to improve assessment efficiency and credibility. ‎The directive was contained in an internal memorandum issued by the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) following a decision of the University Senate. ‎According to the memo, the CBT requirement applies to both mid-semester tests and examinations, and all faculties and departments are expected to comply strictly with the directive. ‎While urging members of the faculty to prepare adequately, the mid semester test for freshmen has been slated for January 19-24 as approved by the University Senate. ‎The University emphasized that strict adherence to both the approved test schedule and the CBT mandate is compulsory.   ‎THE AWO TIMES ‎Campus News | January 6, 2026 ‎ MEDICAL STUDENT PASSES AWAY AT FAJUYI HALL OF RESIDENCE By Jeremiah Williams Obafemi Awolowo University has confirmed the death of a Part Two medical student, Toromade Oluwatimilehin, who reportedly died in his sleep in the early hours of Tuesday, January 6. University officials said the student was found in his room at Fajuyi Hall of Residence, Annex C, Room 109, prompting an immediate response from authorities. Preliminary reports indicates that the student was in normal spirits the previous evening and was last seen around 4 a.m. According to a report by the Association of Campus Journalists, OAU, the Hall Supervisor, Adefisoye Abraham, said there were no signs of struggle or any indication of foul play.  The room has since been sealed, while the body was transferred to the university’s Anatomy Department for an autopsy.
