  The Awo Times ‎Campus News | February 27, 2026 ‎ ‎GREAT IFE STUDENTS' UNION LAUNCHES FOOD RELIEF AND IFTAR INITIATIVE FOR STUDENTS AMID EXAMS ‎By Goodness Olope ‎ As exams kick off at Obafemi Awolowo University, the Great Ife Student Union is stepping in to support student welfare. ‎ The Office of the Welfare Officer has announced a Food Relief & Iftar Initiative to provide meals and food items for 3,000 students during the exam period. ‎ ‎The program will take place at the Student Union Building Car Park on February 28, 2026, from 12 PM to 6 PM, featuring special Iftar packages for fasting students and discounted food items for all attendees. Students must register via Bank78, submit their Bank78 username (79Tag) through a Google Form, and complete payment at the event using the bank’s platform. ‎ ‎Free credit bills will also be provided to facilitate payment. Only students who complete registration properly will be eligible. ‎

  The Awo Times ‎Campus News | February 5, 2026 GREAT IFE STUDENTS' UNION DEMANDS ONE-MONTH ACADEMIC EXTENSION By Azeezat Oladeji ‎ The Students’ Union of Obafemi Awolowo University called for a one-month extension of the academic calendar due to challenges affecting the smooth conduct of Computer-Based Tests (CBT).  These challenges have raised concerns about fairness, efficiency, and the overall quality of academic assessment within the university. ‎ ‎One major reason for this call is the absence of clear timelines and regulations governing CBT scheduling, which has led to confusion and uncertainty among students.  In addition, the existing ICT facilities are inadequate to comfortably accommodate the student population, resulting in overcrowding and increased pressure during examinations. ‎ The situation has been particularly difficult for newly admitted students, many of whom gained access to their registered courses on the university e-portal only shortly before exam...
