‎COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA STUDIES DEPARTMENT HOLDS SEMINAR FOR FINAL-YEAR STUDENTS

By Ajanaku Daniel

‎The department of Communication and media studies at Obafemi Awolowo University, on the 14th of January 2026, held a seminar for final-year Communication and Media Studies students.

‎Led by the Program's Coordinator, Dr. Adeola Oyeleke, the session was organized to help students better understand how to apply media theories to their final projects.

‎The speakers were lecturers from the department who emphasized the importance of adopting a systematic approach to research.

‎They explained that students should present their data clearly and make sure their findings actually link back to the theories discussed in their earlier chapters. This ensures the project stays organized and meets the required academic standards.

‎Another major point was the use of current resources. Students were encouraged to use literature from the last five years to keep their work relevant.

‎They were also told to define their terms clearly so that the project is easy to follow and remains focused on the main objectives.

‎‎Beyond the theoretical aspect, the seminar also covered the technical side of writing. This included using Microsoft Word for proper referencing to stay organized and avoid plagiarism.

‎‎The facilitators noted that the final project should be well-documented and offer practical recommendations based on the data collected.

‎Overall, the event provided a general overview of how to transition from gathering data to writing the final chapters.

‎‎It served as a helpful guide for students to ensure their project is clear, professional, and aligned with departmental expectations
