OAU MATRICULATES OVER 10,000 NEWLY ADMITTED STUDENTS

Obafemi Awolowo University was filled with excitement and pride today as the institution officially matriculated over ten thousand fresh undergraduates in the matriculation ceremony. 

The event marked the formal induction of fresh undergraduates into the academic and cultural life of Great Ife. 

The matriculating students were inducted in batches according to their respective faculties. Batch A comprised students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Administration, Arts, and Law.

Batch B included students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dentistry, Education, and Sciences.

Batch C consisted of students from the Faculty of Technology, Computing Science and Engineering, Pharmacy, and Environmental Design and Management.

Dressed in academic gowns, the Matriculating students took the oath of allegiance, pledging to uphold the values, rules, and traditions of the University and abstain from undefined activities.

 The ceremony brought together university management, Deans, and HOD's, faculty members, parents, guardians, and well-wishers, all gathered to witness the beginning of a new academic journey. 

In his address, the Vice Chancellor, implores the students to embrace discipline, excellence, and integrity, reminding them that OAU is not only a centre of learning but also a training ground for future leaders.

He encouraged them to make good use of their time and academic resources, and to abstain from any form of undefined activities, such as cultism, examination malpractice, and others. He also implored them to contribute positively to the Ife community.

He added that the University is concerned about their welfare and also here to support them and put in the effort to succeed.

The matriculation ceremony ended on a celebratory note, as the fresh students officially earned their status as bona fide students, ready to learn, grow, and uphold the legacy of excellence associated with Obafemi Awolowo University.

  THE AWO TIMES Campus News | June 14, 2025 --- GREAT IFE STUDENT UNION PRO RAISES THE BAR WITH 'TUG OF WORDS' DEBATE COMPETITION  The Great Ife Student Union Public Relations Officer in conjunction with The Obafemi Awolowo University Literary and Debating Society, on Saturday, 14th of June 2025, hosted an inter-institution tournament —TUG OF WORDS – A British Parliamentary Tournament.  Held at Oduduwa hall in Obafemi Awolowo University. A French student from the 2021 admission set, Biyi is recognised as one of OAU’s finest young comedians.
