MEDICAL STUDENT PASSES AWAY AT FAJUYI HALL OF RESIDENCE

Obafemi Awolowo University has confirmed the death of a Part Two medical student, Toromade Oluwatimilehin, who reportedly died in his sleep in the early hours of Tuesday, January 6.

University officials said the student was found in his room at Fajuyi Hall of Residence, Annex C, Room 109, prompting an immediate response from authorities.

Preliminary reports indicates that the student was in normal spirits the previous evening and was last seen around 4 a.m.

According to a report by the Association of Campus Journalists, OAU, the Hall Supervisor, Adefisoye Abraham, said there were no signs of struggle or any indication of foul play. 

The room has since been sealed, while the body was transferred to the university’s Anatomy Department for an autopsy.

The university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, said management had commenced an investigation to determine the cause of death.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adebayo Simeon Bamire, described the incident as painful and urged students and staff to remain calm.
