TMC SUSPENDS PAPER TRANSPORT TICKETS, MAKES LAMINATED TICKETS MANDATORY

Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has introduced a new transport ticketing system, officially suspending the use of paper transport tickets for campus shuttle services.

The new system, which took effect yesterday, Saturday, July 4, 2026, requires all passengers to use the newly introduced laminated transport tickets, as paper tickets will no longer be accepted from Monday, 6th July 2026.

Passengers, including students and other members of the university community who still possess paper tickets, have been directed to visit the Guesstimate Corporation Office at the Students' Union Building, to exchange them for laminated tickets before boarding any campus shuttle.

The university also announced that the colour-coding system for transport tickets has been temporarily suspended due to the insufficient availability of colour-coded laminated tickets. In the interim, transport agents will write or attach their unique agent codes to the laminated tickets to identify the issuing agent.

According to the directive, the updated ticketing system is aimed at improving the management and efficiency of the university's campus transport services during the transition to the new format.

Students and other passengers are advised to exchange their paper tickets promptly and ensure they use only laminated tickets to avoid inconvenience or denial of access to campus shuttle buses from Monday, 6th July, 2026.
