OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY'S DR. ADEOLA OYELEKE NAMED LEAD DISCUSSANT FOR ACSPN SOUTH WEST WEBINAR

The Programmes Coordinator of the Department of Communication and Media Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Dr. Adeola Oyeleke, has been named a lead discussant for the forthcoming Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), South West Zone webinar.
The appointment further highlights OAU's contribution to scholarly conversations on media, governance and national development.
According to a press release signed by the Vice President, ACSPN South West Zone, Mr. Lanre Arogundade, the webinar, themed "Re-appraising the Role of the Media and Communications in Elections, Conflict and Security," will hold virtually on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The event will feature the Vice Chancellor of Baze University, Abuja, Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi, as the lead speaker, while Dr. Oyeleke and Prof. Jide Jimoh of Lagos State University will serve as lead discussants.
The release stated that the webinar is open to ACSPN members, students and scholars from related disciplines.
It also disclosed that new state chapters in the South West zone will be inaugurated during the programme, while the President of ACSPN, Prof. Rotimi Olatunji, will deliver a goodwill address.
According to the statement, ACSPN regularly promotes research, professional development and collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening the role of communication in advancing democracy and national development.
