ENOCH EYIARO WINS OAU "WHO GETS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE" 2026

Enoch Eyiaro, a student of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Administration, emerged as the overall winner of the second edition of "Who Gets to Be a Millionaire" on Saturday, June 27, at Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University.

The competition, organized by the Office of the Financial Secretary of the Great Ife Students' Union under Dare Ogunleye, in collaboration with Oraimo, saw Eyiaro emerge top among 30 contestants to clinch the grand prize of one million naira.

Conceived during the tenure of former Financial Secretary Damilare Fashina, the competition is designed to test students' academic depth and critical thinking, drawing format inspiration from the popular Who Wants to Be a Millionaire franchise, with questions covering current affairs, university history, and general aptitude.

Contestants advanced through a preliminary stage earlier in the week before the 30 finalists who qualified were divided into three batches of ten for the main event. Two contestants advanced from each batch: Pelumi Oyegbori and Oladipupo Abdulmujeeb from the first batch, Akinniyi Mustapha and Afolabi Temiloluwa from the second, and Enoch Eyiaro and Muyiwa Eniola from the third, completing the six-man lineup for the grand finale.

In the final round, Eyiaro posted the highest score to claim the title, with Oyegbori finishing as first runner-up and Eniola as second runner-up. The announcement drew loud cheers from students, Students' Union officials, and brand representatives in attendance.

Notably, Eyiaro had his phone stolen the day before the competition, forcing him to rely on a friend's phone to revise and prepare for the contest. Despite the setback, he went on to clinch the top prize.
