Department Weeks Kick Off Across OAU

Department weeks have begun at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, with various departments rolling out their annual conferences and celebrations across campus. The events, organized by individual departments, will be held in different conference halls between June and August.

Each conference is designed to educate and enlighten students on topics relevant to their respective courses of study. Guest speakers are invited to deliver lectures on selected themes, and the events are open not only to students of the host department but also to students from other departments, alumni, lecturers, and other members of the university community.

The Accounting Department kicked off the season with its summit on June 17, 2026, themed "Biometric Professionalism: Achieving Success Through Human Intelligence and Digital Competence." The event was held at Oduduwa Hall and drew students from the department as well as from other departments across the university.

The Department of Pharmacy also began its departmental week on June 22, 2026, joining the growing list of departments marking the season with their own celebrations.

The Economics Students' Conference followed on June 24, 2026, at Oduduwa Hall, themed "The Digital Economy: AI, Innovation & Opportunities in Finance, Agritech, and Entertainment." More department weeks are expected to follow in the coming weeks.

Department weeks remain one of the most anticipated periods on campus, offering students the opportunity to learn and network with accomplished professionals in their respective fields of study.

Beyond departmental celebrations, student clubs and associations have also joined the season's lineup, with groups such as the Tax Club and the Bureau of Finance rolling out their own conferences and summits.
