STUDENTS RAISE CONCERNS OVER DELAYED RESULTS, CGPA IRREGULARITIES
By Tofunmi Adewusi
Students of Obafemi Awolowo University have expressed concerns over the delay in the release of last semester’s results, alongside reported irregularities in cumulative grade point averages (CGPAs) for the recently concluded first and second semesters of the 2023/2024 academic session.
The situation has left many students uncertain about their academic standing, with some noting that the inconsistencies could affect their focus, scholarship opportunities, and overall academic progress.
This is not the first time students have raised concerns over delays in result processing within the institution, as similar complaints have been recorded in previous sessions.
Students Bemoan Situation Of Things
Interviews reveal growing frustration among affected students.
“I have not seen all my results, and the ones released have issues, some scripts seem missing, and my scores are lower than expected in some exams,” said a 300-level student from the Department of Accounting.
Another student expressed frustration over the situation, noting that the outcome does not reflect the effort invested in academics.
“I am frustrated because I know the effort I put into my academics, and these results don’t make it feel worth it,” said a 300-level student from the Department of Industrial Chemistry.
For others, the issue has created uncertainty about their academic standing.
“It is not letting me see my academic status to prepare for the upcoming semester,” said a 200-level student from the Department of Linguistics.
Some students also highlighted the emotional strain caused by the delay and uncertainty.
“I think the only way it has affected me is the anticipation of whether I had a good result or not,” a student said.
Others noted that the situation is beginning to affect their focus, even as they try to remain resilient.
“The situation has made me lose focus, but I will keep pushing until it gets better,” another student added.
Findings from the interviews indicate that students across multiple departments have experienced similar issues, suggesting that the problem may be widespread.
