EJEOMOH WISDOM BREAKTHROUGH: FACULTY OF ADMINISTRATION BEST GRADUATING STUDENT
EJEOMOH WISDOM BREAKTHROUGH: FACULTY OF ADMINISTRATION BEST GRADUATING STUDENT
By Anjola Adedeji
In the bustling academic environment of Obafemi Awolowo University, where excellence is both demanded and celebrated, Ejeomoh Wisdom Breakthrough carved a path that now stands as a testament to diligence, consistency and divine guidance.
Graduating with an exceptional CGPA of 4.89/5.00, the Edo State-born scholar emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Department of International Relations and of the entire Faculty of Administration.
His journey, however, did not begin with fanfare. It began, in his words, with fear, curiosity, humility and a deep desire to grow.
As a fresher, Wisdom (as he is fondly known) stepped onto the OAU campus feeling largely uninformed — about courses, lectures and the rhythm of academic life.
But what he lacked in orientation, he made up for in determination. “I wanted to outdo myself, and I wanted to grow,” he recalled. “Every semester had to be better than the last.”
That hunger for improvement would soon become the hallmark of his academic story.
A Trail of Awards and Academic Mastery
Wisdom’s brilliance did not go unnoticed. Across his years on campus, he amassed an impressive list of awards that placed him among the most decorated graduates of his set.
These include:
Ebun Ireyomi Prize for the overall best graduating student in the Faculty of Administration (2023/2024).
General Joe Garba Prize for the Best Graduating Student in International Relations, awarded in 2025.
Professor Jide Owoeye Prize for the Best Graduating Student in Politics/International Relations (2023/2024).
General Ike Nwachukwu Prize for Best Graduating Student in Contemporary Strategic Studies (IRS 407), awarded in 2025.
Best Student in Politics of Energy Resources (IRS 418) — earning a ₦30,000 prize from Prof. Iwebunor Okwechime.
OAU Stars Award for Overall Best 200-Level Student in International Relations (2021/2022).
Second Runner-up, Professor Tale Omole @70 Essay Competition (₦100,000 cash prize).
Best Student in Theories of International Relations (IRS 208) — with another ₦30,000 prize for outstanding academic performance.
These awards were not mere decorations; they told the story of a mind shaped by depth, discipline and devotion to excellence.
Mentorship, Connection and the Gift of People
Though he describes himself as reserved and uninterested in taking up many leadership roles, Wisdom played an active role in academic spaces.
His only official leadership role was serving as the Course Representative for IRS 418. Beyond titles, however, he became a pillar of support for classmates and lecturers alike.
His academic success, he believes, is inseparable from the people God planted on his path. Early in his journey, he connected with senior colleagues such as Adetomiwa Rachel, a Part 4 student at the time, who took him through tutorials and mentored him briefly before graduation.
He built strong relationships across departments, networked with course representatives and found community among brilliant peers who shared notes, ideas and encouragement.
He also acknowledges the influence of his lecturers, whom he describes as “destiny helpers”:
Professor Iwebunor Okwechime,
Dr Wale Olusola,
Dr Sunday Omotuyi, and
Dr David Ibukun.
Their mentorship shaped his intellectual depth and guided his academic choices.
Grace Meets Discipline
Behind his achievements was a disciplined structure: early reading, daily revision, strategic course planning and prayers that became routine. “Prayer was a habit, not an event,” he says.
He combined faith with painstaking effort, often reading broadly across disciplines to strengthen his understanding of global politics.
Whether preparing for demanding courses like Strategic Studies or navigating interdisciplinary electives, Victor maintained a high level of academic consistency that kept his CGPA rising every session.
From Uncertainty to Unmatched Excellence
Looking back, Wisdom’s story is one of transformation. What began as confusion in his first year matured into clarity, competence and confidence.
From the uncertain fresher who struggled to understand the campus system, he emerged as one of the brightest scholars produced by the Faculty of Administration.
Standing at the summit of academic excellence, he expresses deep gratitude. “I feel great to be the Best Graduating Student,” he said calmly. “It’s a reminder that grace meets effort, and consistency truly pays.”
As for what comes next, he smiled said:
“As the Lord leads.”
And with a journey as remarkable as this, one can only anticipate that the path ahead holds even greater breakthroughs for Ejeomoh Wisdom Breakthrough.
