FINAL YEAR BRETHREN (FYB) WEEK COMMENCES WITH CORPORATE  DAY

The atmosphere on Obafemi Awolowo University Campus was nothing short of electric this Monday morning, as the much-anticipated Final Year Brethren Week (popularly known as FYB Week) officially commenced, with Corporate Day.

FYB Week is a significant and symbolic tradition organized for final-year students, serving as a week-long celebration of their academic journey. It is not just a celebration — it's a rite of passage.

Final year students from across all faculties, were seen striding into lecture halls and open spaces in dazzling suits, tailored gowns and polished shoes, radiating class and confidence.

Each day of FYB Week features a special dress code or activity designed to highlight different aspects of student identity, culture, and expression. Here's what the rest of the week looks like:

Tuesday, 17th June  – Denim Day: A relaxed day of denim-on-denim fashion and casual streetwear.

Wednesday, 18th June  – Jersey Day: Students represent their favorite sports teams or in vibrant jerseys.

Thursday, 19th June – Costume Day: Creativity takes the front seat as students show up in dramatic, hilarious, or imaginative costumes.

Friday, 20th June – Cultural Day: A celebration of heritage, showcasing traditional attire, food, and performances from various ethnic backgrounds.

As FYB Week rolls on, the campus is sure to see even more creativity, laughter, and memories being made. Tomorrow, students are expected to turn up in full denim for a more laid-back vibe — a sharp contrast to today’s corporate elegance.

Stay tuned to The Awo Times for continued coverage of FYB week 2025.
