PANS WEEK 2025, KICKS OFF WITH A MEMORABLE OPENING CEREMONY
The Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS), OAU chapter, officially commenced its 2025 Week with an impactful opening ceremony at the Ifeloju Cooperative Hall. Themed “Pharmacy Profession: The Past, Present, and Future,” the event explored the evolution of the pharmacy field and the expanding roles of pharmacists in the modern world.
The program opened with a prayer led by the Vice President, Miss Adwoye Omawunmi, followed by the enthusiastic recitation of the OAU anthem. The Master of Ceremonies then introduced special guests and dignitaries who graced the event, setting a tone of respect and anticipation.
The President of PANS, Mr. Alabi Taofeek, formally introduced the past and present executives, then delivered a deeply personal speech in which he reflected on his leadership journey. He expressed sincere gratitude to those who supported him during his tenure and emphasized the strength of teamwork and perseverance.
The opening ceremony also featured interactive sessions where students had the opportunity to engage directly with guest speakers. Among the speakers were Chief Host Prof. Francis Oladimeji, Father of the Day Prof. Wilson, and Lagos-based Pharmacist Adeosun Shakirat, who spoke on the digital transformation of the pharmaceutical industry and how students can position themselves for global relevance.
The Dean of the Faculty and other lecturers present also contributed words of encouragement, urging students to remain focused, innovative, and ethically grounded. These conversations created an open environment where students could ask questions, share ideas, and gain real-world insights from seasoned professionals.
Overall, the event was praised for its rich dialogue, professional coordination, and inspiring speeches. According to organizers, the ceremony successfully achieved its goal of empowering students and setting a vibrant tone for the week-long celebration ahead.
